Have you gone to the adobe site and updated the flash player? These are addons and are not automatically installed with the browser. I have no issues with IE8
IF you want to uninstall it though go to Control Panel, click on the Add/Remove icons. Once the list populates scroll down to find the listing for IE 8 click on it an select remove.

Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help answer questions folks might have about their copies of Internet Explorer.
Davet50 could be right, you may have some add-ons that are conflicting with the Flash player in IE and thus causing trouble.
Otherwise, if your O/S is 64-bit, you might want to make sure that you are not opening the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. Adobe Flash Player is not yet supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. You can run the Flash Player in a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer, however.
Let me know if either of these suggestions are helpful! If you’re still having issues, I’ll see if I can point you towards some answers and get your IE8 running smoothly.
Thanks,
Cody
