IEEE-1394a Adapter

hi
ive tried to install a cardbus (above) to my laptop, it hasn't installed correctly ive removed and tried again XP detects it and installs but i get the message may not work correctly and as a mark against it in device manager, can anyone help
someone suggested altering bios to disable serial port but i can't get into bios (dont know how)

With the limited information that you have posted I can only suggest that you uninstall/delete the entry for your FireWire adapter in device manager, reboot your laptop then try reinstalling the FireWire card.

hi

ive done what you suggested but it does the same also in device manager in the network adapter section it as the yellow mark of death attached and says

1394 network adapter and in properties it says this device cannot start code 10

any ideas

Disable the onboard modem and reboot.  You have an IRQ confilct between the card and the modem.
