in a panic now...
can someone KNOWLEDGABLE please jump in andhelp me reconfigure my router so i can get back to my own wireless network on the list of wireless networks? i have been following so much advice on the forum, but none of it has helped - and now i'm in worse shape than before.
this started with my question regarding the fact that i cannot maintain a good connection to my wireless network....it would constantly float to a non security enabled listing that wasn't my own. i have now been told to un-check the security enabled aspect from a wizard utilized via putting my router url into my browser. after unchecking, it said save and reboot....and it stuck on that site. so now, i cannot click on my named wireless netowrk anymore without it telling me that i will be replacing one already using that name.....etc. i do not know how to set this up so i haven'tgone any further with it.
i have a dell 2350 router and a dell inspiron 6000d laptop. can someone please take the time to help me out with this? i would very much appreciate it.
thank you all in advance.
karen

sorry, I just noticed that you already have another very very long thread going on the subject... that makes it very confusing I'm sure.
It's very important to know if you made any changes to your router settings and what they were, as well as to your notebook wireless settings.
You have other competing wireless access points in your area, and if your wlan connection becomes weak and drops it trys to connect to a stonger one.
I mentioned that you should connect to your router via ethernet to do any changes to the router, as I cannot tell who's wireless network you are connecting to or using, if you have disabled security, etc etc.
You need a baseline to start at...confirm your router configurations, including wireless setup/security then make sure your notebook has same ssid and security setup, etc.
Please post any reply to the main thread as that will help everyone. Good luck.

What he means --> STOP writing to all the threads you have started. Just keep posting to the FIRST one you started that is pages long.
That is the proper netiquette.
