Is the IP address you listed assigned manually or via DHCP? If it's manual, you'll need to assign that IP address/netmask/gateway manually to the WAN interface of the Linksys router.
You will have to turn the router into an access point instead of a gateway by going to the advacned tab and checking the router button instead of gateway. Go back to the main setup page and configure a static ip address for the router with the subnet. Remember to apply the setting before leaving each page.
ok well im not sure whats up but right now I have wireless... Its 1:30am and I am outside- its cold! everything works, really weird, i'm tanked, welcome second semester!
You may have a connection on someone elses wireless - if yours is still not working, it may be you have to register the router MAC address with the IT people.
well john I am not sure what the deal is/was but all that I did was hook up the ethernet from the wall to the router, power on the router.. turn on the computers and after the 3rd try everything worked. I know its my wireless and I can wonder out to the bench outside and still have wireless (signal is low out there but I still get 2mbps). In the room I have 11mbps. Now I just have to wait for MY laptop to get back from dell so I dont have to constantly use my g/f's and roomates laptop for internet. Thanx for the help, I am not sure why it didn't work and now does..
the connection is from the lan connection into the wan port...The internet and lan through the linksys router works, yet i cannot connect to the lan games (the dorm lan). Is there any way to circumvent that? I can play through my router but cannot play when someone in another room starts a game unless I plug directly into the wall. Could I hook up a wired switch that I have laying around into the other lan port to play lan games and just use wireless for internet? Thanx
To make it permanant you could wire the switch to the wall and the WAN port of the wireless router to the switch. Then game wired through the switch. Or figure out what ports the game needs open and open them on the router and just use it as you are with ports open.

This works because I use this within my own LAN
