Inspirion 6000--help!!!!!

I just purchased a Inspiron 6000 notebook.  I am trying to set up for wireless internet service.  I bought a broadband router with speedbooster and an adapter with speedbooster from advice of computer tech at office max.  This is not working.  I installed the adapter into the harddrive of my desktop.  I connected to cable from the modem to my router.  I connected to blue router cable to my harddrive as instructed.  I can not get a connection.  Is there some other piece of equipment that I am missing, if so what do I need?  I have Comcast DSL as my ISP.  Please help.

How in the world could you install an adapter into a hard drive?  A hard drive is a disk.  A hard drive does not have anywhere to plug an ethernet cable.  I really don't understand what you are doing.   If you want to connect by wireless, why are you connecting a cable?  If this is just to set it up, are you configuring it to make the PPPoE connection as stated in the instructions that come with the router?

What is the brand and model number of the Broadband router? At my house it is SMC Barricade and includes both 4-port "hub" and the wireless access point. If you are going to use wireless, then you must have more than just the wired hub.
