Not sure what you mean? The Bluetooth is NOT working on your inspiron notebook? If that is the case it depends on what OS you are running. I think most Inspiron 1464 came with 64 bit Windows. The Dongle might not be compatible with Windows 64 bit or the OS version. Did it come with a drivers disc? Or did you check the Dongle manufacture web site to see if they have some drivers? I bought a Bluetooth dongle from Staples I believe it was a Targus and was indeed and plug and play. But I found it had some issues with staying connected on a laptop which goes to sleep. I finally ended up buying a Bluetooth card a Dell 365 to install in my 1464 and have had no problems since. One thing I have found is not every PC is just the same as another. Not everything works on everything. I would certainly research drivers though and also Google the model of Bluetooth device to see if anyone else has had issues. Good Luck!
