Inspiron 1545 connection problem
I had been using an ethernet cord connection for the internet for over a year with my Inspiron... the cord never really snapped in right to the ethernet opening, so oftentimes we'd have to hold the cord in (and yet our other computers had no problem with holding them in). Nonetheless, lately we haven't been getting any connection with it. The cord/internet works for my Mac with no problems. I was looking and the Dell "detects" the cord because it says "trying to connect" but cannot ultimately connect to it. Is something wrong with the network drive or something. I don't understand what the problem is.

Try a different cable. If that doesn't work, try disabling Firewall.
Also try a System Restore.
If all else fails, you could try buying an USB Ethernet adapter.

Well I have already tried another cord, plus I knew it was working anyhow because my other laptop connected to the internet through it. I'll try one of the other suggestions and see if they work. Thanks.
