Inspiron 5150 Wireless Issues
Just wondering if anybody has any idea why I am constantly loosing my wireless connection? It will lose it, then it will come right back to 100%. Then drop very low and come back, then disappear all together. It is driving me crazy.
Thanks
Miki

Are there any sources of interference around? Things like 2.4 Ghz cordless phones, microwave ovens, and computers with 2.4 Ghz CPUs can often cause interference. The solution which sometimes works is to move the wireless router as far as possible from such sources of interference and to change the channel on the router from the default channel 6 to one of the extremes, channels 1 or 11.

Thanks Steve, There is a microwave but it isn't very close. The only equipment near the router and wireless receiver thing are tv, vcr, dvd and stereo. There is also another computer hooked to the router via cable (it does not use wireless).
Also, I live in condo - could someone else in another unit be interfereing somehow?
I will try to change the channel on the router - but I don't know how.
Thanks again.

You don't say which make and model router you have, but the instructions should be in the documentation that came with the router. Most routers have a web based configuration tool which you open in a web browser. It is best to do this from the computer that is wired to the router, since if you change things from the wired connection, you will lose the connection during the change.
