Inspiron 6000 modem problem
Further to my thread on 28 July, I reloaded all the S/W and now have a semi-reliable dial-up modem. I say semi-reliable because I need on average 3 goes to get connected. I found that by reducing the port speed to 9600, and unplugging the mains supply for charging the battery that I get connectivity 30% of the time. When it connects I get 36000 which is better than the old desk top. But it seems that there is a noise problem either from the power supply, or the LCD display, stong enough to knock out my cell phone as well as this modem.
I also use an DSL phone filter though whether it helps is not clear as the whole thing is so "iffy".
Any one else had this problem?
