What's the modem's name? Is the Append to Log check box checked next to the View Log button? Perhaps the newer driver erases the log on reboot.

It is a conexant D480 MDC V.9x internal modem built on to the laptop. It doesn't matter if the append log is checked, I have tried it both ways. When it reboots it does erase what was previously in the log but it should rewrite a new one. But the log isn't really what I'm interested in, the log is just a sign to tell me that the modem isn't initializing. The modem worked just fine before we reformatted. But once reformatted, it stopped working.
