INSPIRON 6400 DRIVER Intel PROSet/Wireless Software

Hi i am having a INSPIRON 6400, it was vista preloaded, and now i have formated and installed XP Proffesional. everythgin is fine with the system now.But Intel PROSet/Wireless Software saying the Driver is not installed :-( and i have done what they told to do in the troubleshoot. still it saying driver not installed.

The system could not detect an Intel wireless adapter in the system. You may need to update the wireless adapter driver.

First verify if there is a wireless adapter listed in the Device Manager:

  1. Right-click My Computer.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click Hardware.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Click Network Adapters.

If the wireless adapter is listed:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Select Intel PROSet/Wireless Software.
  3. Click Change/Remove.
  4. Select repair.
  5. Click Next.

anybody Has any idea how to fix this, other than the above step ??

Hi

Thnaks for the link,
inmy machine these are the hardwares available
Network Card Adapters Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller - Packet Scheduler Miniport Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver - Packet Scheduler Miniport Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card - Packet Scheduler Miniport

and those three are working fine :-)

my machine doesn't have a hardware for Intel PROSet/Wireless Software , so there is no point looking for that.

if i am wrong with what i think , give me some details,

thnkas for your time
