inspiron B130 wireless network problem

Question

I have an Inspiron B130.  For the past month or so, my wireless internet connection has been very unstable. It feels like I am being kicked out of my network-- I'll be online and a bubble will pop up saying: Unable to connect to preferred wireless network.  As soon as I click the bubble and select the network I'd like to connect to, everything works again. However, it still says not connected in the right hand corner next to the name of my network. Again,  my internet browser works at this point and when I select the network it says that I am 'currently connected to this network.' In about 10 minutes, the whole cycle starts over again. It seems like it is a problem with my firewall, but I've checked and I'm pretty sure it's not related...Anyone had a similar problem or have any solutions?
