Inspiron B130 Wireless Problem -- POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!

After looking at these boards, it looks like many people who cashed in on Dell's 'bargain' $600 B130 have been having the same connectivity problems I have been having for the past 24 hours.    I was able to connect to the net through a wired connection, but was unable to open the 'wireless configuration utility' in the control panel; or even pull up a list of available networks in my range.   After hours of a medely of cursing and praying, I finally solved the problem.  Hopefully this will help some of you other poor souls out there.  Go to the dell site and download a new copy of the driver for the 'wireless 1370 WLAN MiniPCI card.' You can find it by going to the downloads section of the support page, entering your computers model and OS info, and clicking on 'Network Drivers.'  After downloading and installing the driver you should immediately see the wireless icon in the system tray pop up.   For some reason it seems that when I ran windows update, it overwrote some of the dell proprietary programs (the main reason I prefer to reformat and install a naked, non-Dell version of windows).    I will NOT be coming back to this forum any time soon (i hope), so good luck!

I hope it works.  In the meantime, I'm having trouble downloading it.  It's like when You find a solution for one problem, another one seems to crop up!  The problem: The file won't download.  Attempt hangs for a minute and then the browser gives up.  Nothing wrong with the wired connection itself, just can't seem to access download.   Ed Message Edited by Eddie SEG on 12-26-2005 05:40 PM

Ba Humbug!  After downloading and reinstalling, the SAME problem crops up.  If someone here subscribes to HelpDesk, please ask them how to fix this.  I still can't connect and the network shuts down on any attempt.  I don't want to have to return this -- it's a great machine but I can't get free troubleshoot support.  I'll have to connect wired now.   Ed
