Inspiron E1405 internet/wi-fi problems?

im not quite sure what the problem is exactly, but i'll explain the symptoms as best as i can.

within the past two-three months my internet has been turning off randomly. my wi-fi shows that it is still connected, but I am unable to view any websites or connect to any web-required applications (ex. AOL Instant Messanger.) also, no data is shown as being recieved. I have tried using IPCONFIG and it says that the internet is "not connected."

I am able to remedy the problem, in the short term, by restarting my computer and the internet will work once again. It was only a slight annoyance, as it didnt happen too often. Recently this problem has been happening quite frequently, I'd estimate about every eight or so hours and i am able to fix the problem in the short term by restarting my computer, but i do not want to have to do this everytime i want to use the internet.

Is there anyone that can please tell me what is going on and what I can possibly do to fix it?

It would be helpful to know which wireless network adapter you have in that machine.  Have you tried setting the Power Management settings on wireless adapter to never shut of the connection or always supply full power?   If you power cycle your router, does the computer reconnect?

Try the following.  Go into Device Manager, click on the + sign next to Network Adapters, right click your wireless adapter, select Properties, then click on the Advanced tab.   Find the Power Save Mode and set it to Disabled.  Find Minimum Power Consumption and set it to Disabled.  Find Bluetooth Collaboration and set it to Disabled.  Reboot and and see if that fixes your problem.
