Installing Server 2003 Standard on Dimension 4700

Question

I tried to install Server 2003 Standard Edition on my Dimension 4700, on a new hard drive (removed the factory one and replaced it with the same brand- Maxtor).  The software installed OK, but the system doesn't recognize several of the devices, including the on-board network adaptor. When I replace the original drive running XP everything works OK again.  Reformatted the new drive, installed Server 2003 again, same result. Any tips would be MUCH appreciated. Ward

You need to go to the Intel web site and find Server 2003 compatible drivers for your chipset and integrated network adapter. Install the chipset drivers first.  If you find any other devices that aren't working properly, you will need to go the web site of the manufacturer of the device for drivers compatible with Server 2003.  Dell does not sell this system with Server 2003 so there are no drivers on the Dell download site.   Steve
