Integrated NIC
We just received a 4600 with the Gigabyte PCI NIC. On the bottom right of the Task Bar there is an Icon indicating that the NIC on the Mother Board is not connected. Since we are using the PCI how do you tell the computer to ignore the other connection?

Go into the BIOS Setup and turn the intregrated NIC off under the Intregrated Device sub-menu.

Thank you. Two questions though.
1. To enter the bios on a 4600 is it the "Delete" key or one of the function keys. This is my Nieces computer and I will have to talk her through it on the phone.
2. On my computer, which is a Dimension 8200, I notice that in the Control panel under network Devices there is an option to disable the device. Is this different then going thru the BIOS? My computer does not have an Integrated NIC so I cannot try it out.
Thanks for any help.

With the 4600 model you would press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup.

The BIOS Setup option will turn off the intregrated NIC at the hardware level. Even with this option set to off she may still have to go into Windows and disable it to rid herself of the Task bar Icon. I suspect though by shutting it off in the BIOS should eliminate the problem.
