Intel 5100 Wireless-N Driver Problems

I have reinstalled Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my Inspiron 1545 and am having trouble with my Intel 5100 Wireless-N (1x2) Half Mini-Card.  I have read the welcome thread, but still can’t get my connection to work.  The drivers that are checked under “My System” after I run the “Drivers & Utilities” CD, are the Realtek RTS5158E Card Reader Rev: A03 under Chip Set Drivers, Intel GM45 Video Rev: A02 under Video Drivers, Intel Intel® WiFi Link 5100 Rev: A02 under Network Drivers, and Intel Matrix Storage Manager – Notebooks Rev: A00 under Serial ATA Drivers.  During my first attempt I installed the Chip Set Driver and the Video Driver before attempting to install the Network Driver.  When I tried to extract the files I received an error that said "Please insert disk #1 into the drive, and click OK."  The only CD’s I have are the “Drivers & Utilities”, “Operating System”, and “Application”, none of which worked.  Since I still have internet access on my desktop, I downloaded the driver from the “Drivers & Downloads” page that applies to the Intel WiFi Link 5100.  When I ran this on my laptop I got the following message “This self-extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file.  Please insert the latest disk of the set.” Again none of my CD’s worked and after clicking “OK” a few times I received another message “An error occurred while unzipping.  One or more files were not successfully unzipped.  The error code is 110.”   I then reinstalled Vista again and followed the same steps except I downloaded the System Software driver under System Utilities on the Drivers & Downloads and installed it before the Chip Set driver.  I got the exact same error messages.  I checked my Device Manager and under Other Devices the Ethernet controller, network controller, and SM Bus Controller still have exclamation points next to them.  How can I get my wireless connection back?  Thank you.

 tdigregorio1,

I have the 5100 wireless card working with Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit with no problems. Try updating the driver at...
