Was this modem supplied with a new Dell PC? If so, wht Model PC and What Operating system?
Normally, if you get a "data/fax/voice" modem with a new PC you will also get a computer microphone and the software to use it as a "telephone". But, if ti's only a "data/fax" modem you do not get the microphone or software.
But, a computer makes a very poor telephone.

Thanks for the answers, the modem came with the new PC, but I never received a microphone and the software..
The description of the modem said that it supported voice, but Dell representative told me that the system (???) was not comptible with a voice modem.
So I don't know. May be I need an external modem with voice capabilities.
thanks again.
