Intel or Conexant?

I have a Dimension 8400 and replaced XP pro with SBS 2003.  I now need to reinstall the modem driver.  Dell lists 2 possible modems under my service tag.  One is the Conexant 56K V.9x DFVc Modem, the other is the Intel 537E,v.9X, PCI Modem.  The original system configuration shows:

X2749 MODEM, V.92, DATA FAX, INTERNAL, DONN, DELL AMERICAS ORGANIZATION

How do I tell which modem I have?

The modem was factory installed by Dell wasn't it.  If so, It has the Intel chip set, just like mine.  They call the modem a Donny modem.  Mine is listed as Part # X2749 Modem, V.92, Data Fax, Internal, Donny, Dell Americas Organization.  I hope it helps.

So I should install the Intel modem driver - not the conexant?

Yes, that is what I had to install.  That is the modem they pulled out of my computer today.  It was intel, not conexant.  They replaced my modem with a conexant modem which they called the Sonny & Cher modem because my connection speeds slowed down so much with this new computer.  It is a Dimension 8400, Windows XP, Microsoft Office: Small Business Edition 2003.  What are your connection speeds if you have a dialup connection (not dsl).

I have DSL and will only be using the modem for faxing.
