Intel PROSet Wireless won't install

I have a Vostro 1500 Notebook. I was checking the downloads & drivers page for anything I did not have installed. When I noticed the Intel PROSet Wireless had a newer version, I downloaded it. When I tried to install it, it took over 1 hour and just froze and I couldn't cancel. I had to restart the computer and when Windows XP restarted, Intel PROSet Wireless was gone. I tried to install the driver again but it still froze. I needed to do a system restore just to get the internet to work again. After the system restore, when trying to view the help file I get an error that says it can't be found. Is there any reason why it's freezing and is there any way to install it?

maybe you have to uninstall the old first....when you look at the drivers are there other wireless cards,,are you sure you have an Intel wi fi card.

I have installed previous versions before and never had to uninstall it first, so I didn't think about that. I might try to do that. Yes I am sure, the Intel PROSet Wireless is the only way I connect to the internet.
