i dont know if this helps, but under device manager, the following 2 devices have question marks, ie need drivers:

BCM2045
Network Controller

Ive isntalled what i think are all the drivers... What drivers are these refering to?

The Nework Controller might be referring to for the wireless adapter.

Download and install the latest drivers from the dell support site.

The BCM could be for the modem or the Ethernet Adapters.

yes, the chipset was first.

I actually got it to work by installing the intel wireless driver from the dell support site and not the cd. The driver on the cd is out of date. I have another question if anyone knows how to fix this....

Right now, the windows wireless manager is the default software for my computer. When i start up the computer, windows handles the wireless instead of the intel program. I have to tell the intel program to take over wireless once windows has established a connection.

Does anyone know how to fix this small problem? I would like for the intel software to handle the wireless connection at startup.

The first drivers you must install are the ChipSet.
Is that what you did (before installing any others)?

to disable windows from managing your wireless connection do the following -

goto control panel,
click on administrative tools,
double click on services,
at the bottom of the list there will be on called "wireless zero configuration",
double click on it, then stop, then disable it. restart your computer.
