unfortunally no :(
i even tried to get rid of intel's software completely
I removed it's entries of it from msconfig
and also i disabled the services and i used zero configuration utility and still connects and disconnects after a random time.
i dont know what to do anymore :(
Same problem. I bought an 8600 ~1 yr ago. It had the Dell wireless card which never worked on any wireless network which used channel 11. I got so fed up with customer service, I sent the card back to headquarters, and bought the intel card. It seemed to work fine, except for very occasional disconnects. I sent in my laptop for service , and it was lost. I now have a refurbished 8600 with the Intel card. It does not work at all on my wireless at home. It connects/disconnects so much that it is completely unusable. I've given up on customer service. Thinking of selling the laptop on ebay. I'll post if I ever find a solution.
i also hate my wireless on my 8600 it always disconnects... maybe dells customer service can help us out, i am sick of calling them and waiting on hold and never talking to anyone.
Do you have bluetooh enabled on your laptop? following my experience, I have had similar problems with random disconnections of my 802.11g network, and finally I founded the solucion, disable bluetooth driver on windows xp sp2 and no more problems.
Anybody known if it's possible to switch off hardware bluetooth, not by driver? only known Alt-F2 but this also
switch off wifi.
Update.... I just put in another 2200BG (from another laptop). It works FINE. If you have problems like this, I suggest you convince Dell to send a replacement wireless card (good luck). FYI, I don't have bluetooth.
I moved from a TM1300 to a 2200BG and started having disconnects. I am on the second 2200BG from Dell and same issues. I have a rather lengthy thread located at:

There have been some recent and interesting developments. It has been my experience that a LOT of people are having trouble with the 2200BG card.
