Intermittent Wireless Access
Hi,
I am on a Dell Latitude D410
WinXPPro SP2
Pentium ?M 1.6 GHz
1 GB RAM
Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG Netework Connection
At work (not sure what kind of wireless router) the connection is always made and no problem surfing.
At home (apple airport - which works fine with other computers) sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - the sometimes is the most frustrating part. Even when it isn't working, the Network Connection icon on the toolbar shows that it is connected at Full Strength, Excellent Signal Strength and to the correct router (i.e. my airport).
Opening IE at these times results in a:
"Cannot find server or DNS error"
Any Thoughts?
Thank You

Run thru this article and do not apply any security until you have access working. Substitute and mention of WEP for WPA. Try resetting the entire wireless access setup before you start.

Did you ever figure out the solution to your problem? A friend of mine has the same issue (Dell Latitude D600 w/ Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG has problems connecting to an Apple Airport). WEP doesn't seem to be working, but the raw connection is strong. We'll try WPA next.
BTW, how do you tell if you have the latest driver for your NIC (e.g. Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG)? Do you get driver updates from Dell or through Windows Update?
Thanks
Murph
