INTERMITTENT WIRELESS CONNECTION

I am experiencing intermittent wireless connection between my PC with the wireless router and my other PC with a wireless adapter.

Here is my specific component list:

XPS 400 with wireless router = Netgear wireless firewall router WGT 624 v3

Dimension 8250 with wireless adapter =  Dell wireless USB 2.0 Adapter

The wireless system, when initially set up, worked very well.

Lately, the Dimension 8250 will start up reading my home wireless connection.  It, during initial period of time, will allow me access to the internet.  In about 10 minutes time the Dimension 8250 stops reading the wireless connection and I lose internet access.

I'd really appreciate some input on what might be the problem.  Thanks.

Check the power management settings on the wireless network card and make sure they are set to always supply full power.

Thanks for responding to me.

Where do I adjust the power settings?  The PC with the wireless router or the PC with the wireless adapter?

The power settings must be adjusted on the wireless adapter.  The wireless adapter occurs on the computer with the wireless adapter.  Thus, doesn't it make sense that you would adjust the power settings on the wireless adapter on the computer that has the wireless adapter?

Once the connectio ngoes down, is its down permanently? or does it seem to randomly reestablish itself?

It randomly starts up again while I'm using the PC.  It also sometimes requires that I reboot the PC.

Have you experienced this before?

If it really is 'intermittant' then it will go on and off for no apparent reason.

When this happens, we usually reseat the card and if that doesn't resolve the issue, we tend to replace the card.
