Internal Modem -Optiplex GX270
I have a Optiplex GX270
Internal PCI modem = Intel based, USB based, and several others
I have installed several different internal modems, and they all disconnect after 10 minutes.
I have re-inserted cleaned. Tried different ports. I'm using the PCI ports.
If I install an external modem, of any kind into the serial port, it will stay connected forever.

All computers are LAPTOPS now.
Energy Star requirments make them so.

Newer computers tend to be more energy-efficient than older ones. This is partly because the demand for portable or laptop computers drove manufacturers to make more efficient components so batteries would last longer. These efficiency improvements now appear in desktop machines. The modem's sleep and power-down modes further conserve power. External modems have essentially another computer that runs them and they DONT COMPLY to energy star so they dont go to sleep.
Set all bios settings for power management and sleep to NONE/OFF/DISABLED.
Set all power settings in windows to NEVER SLEEP/NEVER SHUT OFF/DISABLED.
That includes spin down hard drives.
Being terse does not get you additional help. It gets you put on permanent ignore.

I don't have any power saving that I' aware of. Where were you thinking. The bios settings for sure doesn't have power saving. This is NOT a laptop. The only thing I have set is under the power options
properities is to turn off the monitor after 20minutes of non-use. I use the computer continuiously for the full 10 minutes before the modem stops.
I need some tracking program to ID what happens. The modem log tells me nothing.
Thanks for you reply!
