Internet browser - error message

Question

After I go to a web site and try to open a link from the site three out of five times I get an error that says, Were are sorry but  A problem has occured and internet explorer will close.  Then it completely shuts down my internet connection. If I right click and do open or open new window to get to the link, then it will usually go thru. However if I just click on the link then most of the time it will close everything out? I have check several time for spy ware and have not gotten anything. Please HElp!

When you get the error message, click on the link to show details of the error report. Write down the AppName and ModName involved in the error and report that here. Sometimes this will help us determine where the problem is. You say you have checked for spyware, but there is no single program that can detect and remove all spyware. Which antispyware program are you using?

The error involves Microsoft Visual Basic. I don't understand why this would be trying to run unless the web site you are visiting is attempting to run a program on your computer. Is it only one web site? If so, which web site is it?

I strongly suspect that the problem is with spyware. Go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum - http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_hijack where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.

No it happens on several different web site, whenever I try to hit a link from the web site.

I use Spybot and also Ad - aware. The app name: iexplore.exe ModVer:6.0.97.82 AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180

I'd agree but would also point out that there is a set where it's possible to copy in the log-file that HiJack This creates, and get a read-out of what's good, bad, unknown, etc>

If you want help with your HijackThis log, then you have to post it in the HijackThis forum like I told you before. That's where the experts hang out and it is the official forum for dealing with HijackThis logs.

I ran all the programs that are posted on the link READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST.  The first virus scan found two  adware problems, so I fixed that then ran the others, I ran the clean Up! software twice, then the RegSeeker, it  found over four hundred problems but would only fix fifteen of them.
