Have you tried resetting everything.  To do this, turn off all computers, the router, and the braodband modem.  Let the modem sit for about 5 minutes, then power up the modem.  Give it about 5 minutes to resynchronize with the network, then turn on the router.  Let the router sit for abut 2 minutes to that it can synchronize with the modem.  Then power up the computers and see if the network connection is restored.

Hi,

This is a common problem when we use a router and a cable connection.

This is what we need to do

1) Shut down all the computers

2) Turn off the router.

3) Tun off the cable modem and wait for 2 minutes.

After this

1) turn on the cable modem and wait till the lights on the cable modem are steady.

2) Turn the router back on

3) Turn on the computers back on you should be able to get on the internet without any problems.

Thank you both for your advice. The solution worked, and the internet is working once again from my computer.

I have a couple of questions:

(1) What exactly caused th is problem?

(2) Is there any way to minimize it happenning again?

Thanks again.

Hi bartik,

(1) What exactly caused this problem?

That you can only check when you have the next time trouble.
By the next pls turn off/on  only the router. When it´s works after you knows the router is the problem. Than check the website for a firmware upgrade.
If it´s not the router pls call your isp to change the modem.

(2) Is there any way to minimize it happenning again?

Firmware upgrade and/or change the modem.

good luck

Harry
