internet disconnects

Question

I have a Demension 1100, with XP Home, dsl, Internet Explorer 7. If I leave my computer on for a few without using I.E. it wont connect to the internet through the browser, while all other programs that use the internet connect i.e. messengers, media player, etc. work fine. At first I thought it was screen saver related, but after killing the screen saver, it didn't help in the slightest....any ideas? After a restart the problem goes away until the next period of time left sitting. Message Edited by smidgiez_daddy on 11-12-200607:49 PM

Is the browser left open during this time of non use??, if it is close all instances of IE and try reopening IE, and see if it connects, if not the case then try below.       Try this open IE and go to tools/ internet options/connections tab, now click the Lan settings button and tick the box, 'automatically detect my settings', OK and OK. Close IE and reopen it. If it causes more problems (doubt it) you can revert the settings by un ticking the box, OK OK

This issue seems to happen reguardless of weather or not I.E. is left open or not...thank you for your suggestion, I shall try it.
