Internet Explorer Help

I am having trouble connecting to the internet with my desktop. The desktop is the main computer that has everything plugged up to it. Wireless router, and Cable modem for example. About 2 months ago the computer just stopped connecting to the internet. I am able to access the internet from my laptop. I have tried installing IE7, firefox, and Netscape but all it will do is pull up the blank pages and wont pull up any web pages. I am not sure what else I can do here except try and roll back the system to a period i know the internet was working. The problem is I really cant remember how to do that. If anyone has any advice on what to try or can tell me how to roll back my pc to about 2-4 months ago I will try that. I am usually pretty good at this stuff but this one has gotten me. I have also to my knowledge turned off any firewalls that may be causing conflicts. Someone mentioned that maybe a virus or some other type of adware may be causing this. I just can't find it.
Thanks for any help.

Go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.

I was able to use my dell USB memory stick to do this and i am about to post it. I am also getting an error in the startup about my paging files but I go in and increase the size and restart still same. Dont know if the 2 are related but anyways I will go post my log file and hopefully it will get fixed. Thanks.

From your original message it seems that you may not have your network set up correctly, but I may have mis-read also. Please make sure you have your network set up in the following manner.

Highspeed internet service (DSL/Cable modem) > Wireless Router > desktop computer

If it is set up this way then fine. You can find additional networking help at  Wireless Solutions this site not only deals with wireless but also basic networking..

Very good just wanted to make sure that was not an issue. It sounds like you are on the right track.

Volcano11 is very good at getting these fixed up, I just wanted to make sure that you had it wired correctly.

But to answer your question: Yes, if you have your cable/DSL modem connected to the desktop it will connect to the internet. You could then connect the router but then the wireless although it would connect to the portable and the portable will see the wireless signal and say it's connected it would not be able to get online. There is also a way to sets up a network bridge and this would use 2 NIC to get online. This was used previously when people did not have access to routers or hubs and it would then use the connection of one system to be the bridge for another system to get online. If that  bridge was set up it is possible; however, since you have a cable/DSL modem and a wireless router this would not be necessary.

Now if you do not have it set up as I described previously what you'll have to do is turn off your DSL/Cable modem for 5+ minutes. Unplug your desktop from the DSL/Cable modem and take that wire and plug it up to your router in the port that says Internet (not one of the LAN ports). Then you'll need an additional wire to go from your router to your desktop. Once the rewiring is done and the 5 minutes has passed turn on your DSL/Cable modem. Wait for all the lights to settle in once they are done flashing turn on your wireless router. You should be able to get online.

If you have never set up your network as I described before you may want to go through the router setup utility, but if you have then you may want to verify the setup.

I made sure everything was hooked up correctly. I even unplugged the wireless router and plugged the modem striaght into the computer. Still same result. I have a couple of people trying to help to remove some malware. But nothing is really working at this point. I was able to get a portion of yahoo.com to come up after about 5 minutes of waiting and still it only showed the top part of the webpage only.
