Internet Explorer issues....

I just purchased a new Inspiron 640M.  I rec'd it last week.  I have not done any downloading or changes to any of the factory settings.

Internet Explorer is going crazy on me.  Everytime I am using the program and on a webpage, it automatically starts opening up new "spam" type pages.  It opens 20-30 at a time.

Does anyone know how to solve this?  Do I have a virus?  Is it a setting on IE that is allowing this to happen?

Thanks for your assistance!!

The only websites I have visited are MSN and my bank website since I got the computer.  It started doing this the first time I clicked on IE after starting my computer for the first time.  I have turned the pop-up blocker.  They are not pop ups that are opening, they are actual web pages that are loading each time.

Thanks!!

It sounds like you are visiting questionable internet sites as reputable sites do not do this.  Have you tried turning on the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer (Open Intenret Explorer and click on Tools > Pop-up Blocker).

I'm curious to know - from where or from whom did you purchase this computer?  It sounds like it is infected with spyware or malware.

Go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.  Be sure to read the messages at the top of that forum before your post you log.

Hi!  Thanks for the advice.  I purchased my computer brand new from Dell.  I thought that it seemed a little wierd that  a brand new computer would do this.  I think that I will call Dell and tell them and see what they have to say.
