Have you checked your system for spyware?  IF not, download, install, update and run either Ad-Aware or Spybot or both, then let these programs delete all spyware they find.

Are you running any pop-up stoppers or ad-blockers?  If so, disable these programs (note some firewall's also have the ability to block pop-ups, if you are running a firewall, check to make sure the firewall is not causing the problem.

yes, having the same problems.  Purchased a brand new Dimension 4600c a week and a half ago.  Worked fine for a few days.  Have you tried the Spybot solution and has it fixed it? Running McAfee Firewall, Security and Anti virus. Block up popper but not always in effect.  Cannot access certain web pages.  Also keep getting N-save alert???  Explorer keeps shutting down or the computer freezes.  My daughter also has the same problem on her new Inspiron at college cannot use at all at the moment.

Any ideas or confirmations on the Spybot solution posted - please!!!

I have a 4550 and used to the same type of problems. I moved to Mozilla Firebird. This brower can be highly personalized to fit your needs. The FireBird program is a stripped down browser, no e-mail accounts or newsgroups.Goto www.mozilla.com and look into the different browers and find one to fit your needs.I love it and would not go back to IE for anything.Good luck

I tried Spybot and ad-aware, but to no avail. I have also did all windows updates. I defragment and disk check constantly and still have lots of problems with Internet explorer. I tried Mozilla and it does the same as Explorer. Now every once in awhile, I now have the same problem with Navigator. I have 512 mb memory in this Dimension 4300. Would it make any difference to upgrade to 1 gb memory? Thanks for any help. Bob

By adding more memory will not stop this problem. You will be able to run more applications at once, but it will not stop it.Try dowmloads.com and see if they have any utility downloads to help. If not there also try zdnet. Both of these site have lots of helpful software and most of it is freeware.I always download into my download file them run norton on before installing to the hard drive. Also try looking around on TechTV.com this site is really helpful and they have quite a few chat boards for added help.Hope this will help you..

bejrreed,

As Paul as said, increasing system memory will not solve these problems.  Most of the problems people are experiencing with web browsers these days are due to spyware, adware, malware, hijackers, or other parasites that get downloaded from the internet.  The perpetrators of this garbage change things so quickly that the common spyware removal programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot cannot keep up with the rapidly changing ways to spy or hijack browsers.  Since you have already tried Ad-Aware and Spybot, hopefully after updating the spyware definitions, you can go the next step.  First, go to the following site and download and run CWShredder:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=sp#det

If you are still having problems after running CWShredder, go back to the following site and download and run HijackThis:

http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

After running the program follow the instructions on the above site for opening the log file generated by HijackThis and for posting into one of the Spyware forums where a spyware removal expert can help you decide what you need to get rid of.
