Internet Explorer...SOS

My internet explorer works fine if I put in the address in the URL, or use the favoites links.   But if a web site requiers a new window to be opened, it trys to open it in a new window titled "Microdoft Internet Explorer" and just copies whatever is on the screen, and never opens the web page.  I have let it sit of hours and hours and still nothin, and if I move the mouse over the window, it changes to the hour glass, and only if the mouse is over that window.  I am connected through a LAN,  T3 line.  So I know it isn't the internet connection.  I have a Demension 4400, and it did work fine a few months ago, I'm assuming it is something that I downloaded is screwing with my internet.  I was wondering if I had to do with my " Winsock.dll "  I do have two of them.  One in C:\Windows\system32   and   C:\I386  directories.  Please send me an e-mail or something if you know what it could be,   THANX

Me and Myself,

You may wish to post this in the appropriate software board, since they generally have more traffic and you may get a response from another user who has seen this type of problem before. The problems you are describing are related more to the software, rather than the hardware.

I have been looking for a solution to this problem for months.  I have 2 computers that have this issue out of 35 all on the same LAN.  The problem started after someone removed the "teddy bear" icon file following the hoax directions.  Per microsoft this file is not necessary unless you are a java developer but it is the only cominality these two computers shared that I know of.  Workaround is to press Esc key to stop then F5 key to refresh the new window then the contents show.  Still looking for a real fix.
