internet plus wireless not working but does with ethernet

Model pp39L studio 1555 that i purchased in 2010. Internet and wireless not working only with ethernet conected to router. also noticed the wireless tab to turn on and off on keyboard not working along with eject button for cd disk. tried the Fn & F2 button to turn on wireless but didnt work.  Wireless and internet was working  but  found out my email was hi jacked  so changed my password and then noticed the wireless not working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Thanks Rick for responding.  Have Microsoft security Essentials as virus protection.  windows firewall I beleive.Anything else u may need to know?

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

BIOS is enabled. went to windows mobility center,wireless button is activated but says not conected

Your router, does it use Mac address filtering?

 

Try reading...

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers

im positive its my laptop. took it to a starbucks. wouldnt connect there either. someone told me to get a wireless usb adapter for a quick fix. would rather be able to fix  my laptop if its not a software, driver or wireless card issue
