Can you tell me what's the operation system you use ?
If you use Windows xp ,you are very lucky , it has the feature of shareing the Internet. You needn't use any other softwares.

A better way to share an Internet connection is to use a broadband router. It's better because XP's "Internet Connection Sharing" requires that the machine that has the Internet connection be turned on and connected to the Internet any time the other machine needs to access the Internet. If you have a broadband router, the router performs this function instead.
You can learn more about the subject from Linksys's educational site and from HomeNetHelp.com.
