Internet stops working after about 2 hours
hello,
i have a brand new Dell Dimension 8400 and it has been giving me problems. We have cable internet with no routers or anything, just the modem. Anytime I were to go to play a computer game(doesn't matter which game) after about 2 hours i will get disconnected and the internet wont run anymore. No error messages or anything, it just quits. I end up having to restart the computer to fix it, where another 2 hours it'll do it again. Regular internet browsing doesnt affect it, so it must just be the games. I'm wondering what the problem could be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Toastsmack,
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.
Let me ask you about the games. Are we talking about internet games such as Pogo.com, are these on-line games such as Ever Quest or are they just local games you've installed.

Yes, these are with installed games (like everquest). could it be the ethernet card that came installed going bad already?
Edit: I checked what network card was installed and it was that Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit controller, and was wondering if maybe i should install this driver at the link this person posted. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_modem&message.id=29659

Toastsmack,
Well, since you're able to stay connected when you're browsing without any problems and it's only happening with games, I doubt there's an issue with the modem itself. Try going to General Boards - Gaming at http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=game-gen and start a new thread there. Include as much as you can about the games and so on. You should be able to get a quick response there.
