IP address

hi, I am very tech UN-savvy. I have a dell Inspiron 5150 that I have never had problems with until about a week ago. I got a virus, so I had the computer wiped clean, and all my systems were reinstalled. If I plug the ethernet cable into the computer, I can get online, but if I try to connect wirelessly, like I always have, I can't. It says it can't find my IP address. I have no idea how to fix this. Any ideas?

You seem very reluctant to answer my questions.  That makes things more difficult.  Nevertheless, see if the following helps:

After reinstalling Windows, did you install the chipset drivers before even attempting to install drivers for other devices?   After installation of the chipset drivers you would need to install drivers for the wireless adapter.  Which wireless adapter do you have in that computer?

Is your wireless adapter a PC card (i.e. one that  plugs into the PC Card slot on the side of your computer)?  If so, then you will have to find the installation disk for the PC Card and install the drivers for that card from the disk.

Is this a PC card?  Are yo trying to connect to a wireless broadband service (like Cingular or Verizon) or a WiFi network (a router in your home or at a hotspot)?
