IPC$

Im networking a 98 pc with a XP pro pc.

From XP to 98 it works fine but the opposite way doesnt. It requests the IPC$ password which I dont know what it is where it is or how to change! So, what is it? Is there a way of just allowing direct access via network without the psswrd?
