IR Communication

Hi

I have a simple problem i was hopeing someone could help with.

 

I have a Dell Latitude D500 laptop but cant get the IR port to work. There is no facility in the Control Panel & when i looked on the xp boot cd for optional components there was no file there.

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
