LAN connection deactivates
Hoping someone will be able to assist here.
I have a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop running vista
I have set my screen to switch off after 5 min of no activity. The issue i have here is that when the screen ‘sleeps’ the Ethernet / LAN connection is deactivated.
As soon as i type / move the mouse, the screen comes back on and a little notification on the bottom right appears to say Dell control point - Ethernet device connected.
The problem i have is that i stream info from the laptop, as soon as no activity the LAN deactivates and breaks my streaming.
How do i fix this?
Please help

Open device manager. Go to the listing for your wireless adapter right click and select properties. Go through the setting look for the option to allow the computer to put this device to sleep and un check it.

I have had the same issue. I have spent 2 weeks with Tech Support and have had 2 laptops replaced. I have updated the Control Point Software to the newest version as of 3/18 and it still turns of the Nic. From all the lengthy calls with Tech support and them even trying the issue in the lab they cannot recreate. Dell even sent me a brand new laptop and it still has the problem.
I did find a patch. Go to devce manager and selct your Nic, click link speed and click Speed and Duplex, if you select Gigabit or the speed you are running on your network the Nic will not shut off. I have discussed this with high end tech buddy of mine, and he told me that to be careful because if you keep the nic set at gigabit and go to another network you could get BSOD.
I am going to call dell back about this and make sure they find a patch. 3 laptops and all the same problem and others having it, means they need to find a fix to the drivers.
I hope someone or dell finds a true patch on this soon. I have spent 15 - 20 hrs on the phone with tech without a solution.
