Hi pingal,

I amd sorry to know that the system fails to detect the LAN cable and suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps provided below:

1. Reseat network cable on the computer end and also from the modem/router end.
2. Check if Link LEDs are blinking at the computer end. If there is no response, please turn off the Laptop ->Router ->Modem and turn them back on in the reverse order after 2 minutes.
3. Check with a known good LAN cable.
4. Please update the BIOS and network card drivers for the laptop and check if the cable is detected.

You can download the BIOS and the Network Card drivers from the links provided below:

BIOS: http://dell.to/S8eDLW

Network Card: http://dell.to/SpDttx

Please let me know your findings.
