The concept is "make available offline."  First, you need to enable Offline Folders by opening Windows Explorer, then click Tools, Folder Options, and Offline Files, then select Enable Offline Files.

Using Windows Explorer navigate to a server folder.  I usually "map" the folder, but it is not necessary to do so.  Right-click the folder and select "Make Available Offline."  This folder and all files and subfolders (if you check the box for it) will be automatically synchronized ... and available when you are offline from the server.  If your files of interest are currently on your notebook, move them to the server first before selecting the Make Available Offline option.

Ah. Well, I'm actually trying to do it the other way. All my most recent data will be on my laptop, and I'll want it backed up on the server. I wonder if I set it up on the server rather than the laptop if that would work. That way when the laptop connects, it would synch from the laptop. Hmmm, I'll have to give that a try.

Thanks!

what os is the server running?

if it's 2k server or 2k3 server, you could try what's called a 'shadow copy' which sounds exactly what you are looking for.

Search the help files on the OS for info.
