Latitude C640 + Linksys WPC54 v3.1 performance problems
A few days ago I bought a Linksys Networkadapter (WPC54 v3.1) and installed it on my Latidude C640 laptop. But it is giving me a big performance problem. For example my mouse is not going smoothly over the screen anymore, music is constantly chopping, etc.
The CPU-load is always higher the 50%! The proces "system" is the problem and is always 50% or higher, even when the system is in rest.

I uninstalled the Wireless networkadapter and the problem was over.
Does anybody (users - people from Dell) know a solution for this?
Thanks a lot!!

had something similiar that would occur on an emachines notebook (high system cpu %). tended to happen only if the card was removed or inserted while the computer was already on. not sure if this is at all applicable for you.
i never solved this problem.

Thanks for trying to help me!
I just got an email from Linksys telling me that there is probably a conflict between the Wireless Adapter software and the Microsoft Windows XP Wireless software.
The advise: Uninstall all Linksys wireless software, keep card in slot and restart. Windows finds new hardware and use CD from Linksys to install the right drivers.
Performance (CPU-Load) problems solved!
But... don't you think this is stupid? They deliver software which does not work very well with windows XP. I have experience with Cisco and I can tell you, this kind of things are happing many times.
What would be you suggestion? Complain? Ask if software for higher version of Networkadapter is working better?
