Latitude D505 & Internet Problem through Wireless

Dear All,

I have Windows XP Professional running under Dell latitude D505 laptop. It was working fine for the last 3 months and just 1 week ago, I tried to brows the Internet but I was not able at all.

I usually connect to D-Link ADSL Wireless Router which I have upgraded its firmware recently after I faced this issue and I have reset it several time but I am still not able to brows the Internet.

The weird thing is that there are some applications are working fine such as ICQ, Skype, LimeWire, and some are not i.e. MSN Messenger.

I have downloaded the latest update for Windows XP Professional as well as the latest updates for the built-in Wireless drive and still not able to brows the Internet through Internet Explorer.

I have tested my ADSL Routers with my PDA and it was working fine, and I have tested with similar laptop but running under Windows 2000 Professional and it is working great.

I noticed strange thing that when I am connected to the ADSL Router through my PDA and/or my other laptop that running Windows 2000 Professional and I startup the laptop that running Windows XP Professional, suddenly the PDA & the other router will not be able to brows the Internet, but they will be able to use the applications that I have mentioned about until I shutdown the laptop that has Windows XP Professional and restart the router.

I would say that I have never face such a problem before and I will appreciate your help.

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you the solution before I perform a format which I really hate to do.

Sincerely,
Bahraini

The firwmare probably reset all you authentication (SSID & Encryption).  Have you verified these settings?

Dear jmwills,

Even if the new firmware has reset the existing authentication setting, I have reset it and reconfigured it but again still not working.

I am just wondering, why other laptops/pda are able to brows the Internet through the same wireless router while when I turn ON the XP Laptop its somehow force the router to not allow the other devices to brows the Internet through Internet Explorer! Only ICQ, Skype, etc.. are working properly.

It's kinda strange!
