Latitude E4310 wifi won't work
Hi, I got a Latitude E4310 recently, which had a dead HDD. I had to put my own drive into it and load my own copy of Windows 7 Pro onto it. Everything works, except wifi. I have tried every driver available for this model, but they just say something along the lines of the laptop not having compatible hardware. And yes, the switch on the side is on, and I have tried it in either position. In device manager, I see nothing along the lines of 'wireless card'.
I even tried putting in my own mini-pci-e wifi card, an intel wifi link 5100, fully installing all drivers and software. That didn't work either - it picked it up and all the intel drivers installed but in device manager it said it 'couldn't start'.
Does this model come standard with wifi? Do I have to go and buy a special dell wifi card and install that?
I also have 2 Latitude E4300 laptops which I am about to put new HDDs into and set up, which I believe will have the same issue.
Thanks in advance.

xplosiff,
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

I just installed that software, it opens a window that says 'Verifying application requirements' with a loading bar, but does not progress from there
Also, as I should have mentioned previously, under the cover which has the windows label on it there are no cards installed, just 3 empty slots.

xplosiff,
Download and install in this exact order...
Dell System Software, v.7.0.1, A01
DFEP 2.2 64BIT
Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, v.9.2.0.1030, A05
Intel AMT HECI, v.6.1.20.1059 PV, A04
Ricoh R5U24x, v.2.11.01.02, A04
and ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor
Then download Intel 825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device, v.11.6.92.0, A06
Then go to Dell Warranty Status enter your service tag, click on original configuration. Look and see which wireless adapter is installed. Then go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, select your operating system. Under network download and install the drivers.
Then download and install Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver Pack, v.1.4.056, A18 and Dell ControlPoint Security Manager Application, v.1.4.00004, A18

Thanks for keeping in touch
I have installed everything you listed and am about to install the control point driver and software.
It said this on the wifi card driver download installer:
Intel (R) WiFi Link 6200
v15.03.1000.1637 (A03) December 06, 2012
Complete
This update package completed successfully.
But I still can't see the card in device manager, or in the network connections window. I would expect that it would at least show up in device manager if it was working.
All I see in device manager under Network adapters is 'Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection
and under Other Devices only 'Broadcom USH' which I found out is for a fingerprint scanner, which isn't present on this model

I have solved this issue - the wifi card has been removed. It was also taken out of the other 2 similar ones I bought. I found another wifi card (an Atheros one out of an acer), put it in, and I now have working wifi
since these are ex government, the hdd was removed, and maybe the ram was supposed to be removed but they must have asked the work experience kid to take it out and he must have taken out the wifi card instead hahaha
all is good, thanks for your assistance
