lighting hit my modem

i ordered a new modem when i install it the coumputer will not boot up   the modem is a v.92 internal modem   (8f217)

if you system boots up without that modem.. then Try connecting that modem to the other slot on the motherboard.
otherwise either the modem or the ports on the mobo is not working. you will need to replace the modem.

Since you had a lightning hit, it could have also damaged the motherboard and/or the PCI connectors.  Check into it further as it may not be the replacement modem, but something else causing it to fail. 

When you get a lightning hit, potentially many other problems can arise.

thank you for your help ,i don't think it's the motherboard,because if i put a different modem in not dell the boots up and say's pci modem found , now no matter what i do install the drivers it still showes up as needing the drivers , already formatted the computer, still lost  thxs in advance .

If you reformatted and reinstalled the software, did you reinstall the Dell Chipset drivers?  They must be installed before installing device drivers or they could be "not found".

reinstalled chip drivers , still no luck do you think it could be the wire that connects the modem to the motherboard?

get the modem replaced.. if you want to get it from dell then the part number is FC097

i already got a new moden ,still have have the same problum.    thank to all who are trying to help
