First try different router ports to see if it was one of the ports that was knocked out. If it's not a router port, you could try installing a spare PCI network adapter or if you don't have a spare laying around, you can find them for less than $10 after rebate at many popular electronic stores and sometimes even WalMart. If the PCI card works, then it is likely that the integrated network adapter on your motherboard was hit by the lightening strike.

Steve, Thanks tons for that idea.
I plugged the 8400 netowrk cable to another port, and everything works fine. That is a huge relief to know it's fine.
