Linksys router problem

We have a Linksys Router attached to my husband Win xp computer in Florida.  Last year, I was able to access the internet with no problem with my Dell600m laptop.  When I tried it this time, even tho it said I was connected and the signal strength was very good, I still couldn't get on the internet.  I spen a couple of frustrating hours in live chats with Linksys guys and it didn't help. Finally, I decided to go back to the Linksys on-line and reset it again.  So, it worked and I can now connect to the internet and read email from my laptop.

BUT,  my husband's computer now doesn't get any pictures on his internet sites, only the red X.

Any idea why this happened?  I can't imagine and don't want to lose my connection on the laptop, however, he would like to have pictures!

The IP is Comcast and I think the problem was when they came to service it because it wasn't working and they changed some settings.  They weren't at all helpful.

If anyone has any idea how we can get his pictures back, we'd be most grateful..  THANKS!

Update the firmware on the router and if you are still having the issue(s), see if the same thing happens with a wired connection.  Alos see if there are driver updates for your wireless adapters.

Very rarely is this an ISP issue.  May just be a bad router.  These things are so cheap now that if you et more than three years from one, consider yourself lucky.  Although, Linksys is the best in my humblest of opinions.

Well, like magic, it suddenly is working just great.  The pictures on my husband's computer returned and the laptop is working fine today.  I wasn't sure what would happen when I turned it on this morning, but all is well.   Hooray!!

Thanks,

Peggy
