Steven, it's from WRT54G v3.1 and WRT54GS v2.1 onwards.

it's bad enough for me to question it :)
If it's a cosmetic flaw affecting all models (with this logo), I would consider this poor attention to detail.  How hard is it to make a correctly fitting background "plate"?

How bad is it?  I have seen a slight bleed on a few WRT54G units.

Most likely cosmetic since I have yet to get my hands on a WRT54G v5 unit :smileyvery-happy: (and definitely not likely to get one either)

it's a budget junk unit from linksys.  go figure that the case would suffer as well when they removed all the good stuff from inside.

Why do you call it junk?  I'm aware that they've reduced the ram and that the hacked firmware no longer works, but what's your take on it?

So far, it's been really strong.  No disconnects or failures to connect.  I haven't tried bittorents yet though.  My old router (Dell 2350) would lock up 95% of traffic while downloading multiple torrents, and I'd have to power cycle the router.  All was well bypassing the router.

reduced ram and flash are definite points.  i've also heard more good things in terms of signal and range from similarly priced buffalo units (which can run the 3rd party firmware).  for torrents more ram and CPU (some asus models among others I think) are probably a good idea.

If I disable SES on my WRT54G v.5 router, the 'logo' LED doesn't light up at all.... yipee.  *Much* better aesthetic with just the little green dots.

At times reading these boards, I can't help wondering if I inhabit a parallel universe.  Here I am, with two entirely satisfactory two-year-old I5150s (not overheating, no AC or motherboard problems yet...) intensively used for gaming.  They both have the much-maligned Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG WLAN card, as does my I8100. These also work perfectly and sustain 54Mbps for hours, connected across 3 floors of our house with WPA2 via the apparently also dubious WRT54G v.5.  Having said all of which, the whole lot will go bad on me tomorrow, no doubt.  But meanwhile, I'm happy in my little bubble of second-rate technological bliss....

If you do live in an alternate universe, we must be in a similar one :smileyvery-happy:

(but I have a WRT54G v1.0 and a WRT54G v3.1)

Oh, yeah, mine does that too...hmm...never noticed that.  Hope that's not the reason that mine isn't working properly.
