Lose internet connection?

Hello all, I just recieved my new dell inspiron yesterday, I have a problem when I put it to sleep mode and wake it up it lost internet connection and the only way to get it back is to restart the computer????  Strange or does this sound like a simple fix.  Any help would be great thanks all.
