Losing ip or internet connection
I have a brand new Inspirion 531s with Vista and cat 5 wiring. I am losing my internert connection by rebooting or after a couple of hrs of non use. I can reset the router and my cable modem and be right back online and remain online till we time out or I reboot. I have noticed with ipconfig that I am losing my ip addresss. I called Dell they were no help. I have another computer using the same router and it never goes off online. I did not have a problem with the computer that I just replaced. I am pretty sure it is the computer or a sitting. I am looking for things to try.

your wireless might be messing with your lan connection ...switch off the wireless for a few hours and test ....otherwise check if there are any new bios updates available

Try going to Control Panel/Classic View/Device Manager. Click on the plus sign next to network adapter. Double Click on the your wireless adapter and then click on the Power tab. Uncheck allow this computer to turn off this device to save power.
